Apologies if you're not able to see poll results once you have voted -- I'm not sure why that is. In case you don't see them, Results so far: 5 say "heck yeah", 5 say "depends on the fundraiser", 3 say "nah" and 2 say depends on the organization. On that basis I imagine we'll look further into it and perhaps ask a more focused question soon. If you have specific thoughts about a type of fundraiser you'd like to participate in, or an org you'd like us to support, please share here in the comments!
While it would be interesting for us all to see the results as they come in, I think we'll get a more accurate idea of the group's preferences if no one is influenced by previous responses.
Absolutely. Hence the typical mechanism of online polls to hide the results until after you have voted. But what I don't understand is why you still can't see the results AFTER you have voted. *shrug*
Only one additional vote since I last checked it, and that vote doesn't shift the overall sentiment much. We apparently need to make a more specific proposal and get feedback on that.
It's possible, although not likely, we will have a few dollars left over at the end of the event. If we do, the best way to dispose of the surplus would be to donate to a worthy cause (we're thinking a STEM education organization in the Chicago area). We could do something fun like raffle or auction off some vintage USR swag, or even do a simple 50/50 raffle (buy one or more tickets; one winner gets half the cash and the other half goes to the charity). If we did something like that, would you participate? Is it a good idea or just scope creep? Share your thoughts please!
